ONE BEST EXERCISE FOR LOW BACK PAIN!? - IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK...

Simply put, THERE IS NO ONE BEST EXERCISE to relieve low back pain! We just released an Instagram video yesterday (link to watch: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0fYVikLXK-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) showing over 40 different exercises that Dr. Greg has prescribed for patients with low back pain - and that wasn't even an exhaustive list! Low back pain is not all created equal and there can be various different reasons a person may experience pain in their lower back. The lower back (lumbar spine) is an extremely complex region of the body with many structures that are potential pain-generating structures including muscles, joints, ligaments, discs, and nerves. Not to mention, stiffness and imbalances in the middle back (thoracic spine), sacroiliac (SI) joints, and hips can all lead to potential low back pain.


This is why it is SO IMPORTANT to seek out treatment from a provider like AWAKEN who specializes in working with patients who are experiencing low back pain. Through active listening and performing targeted tests and measures, Dr. Greg investigates the root cause of the pain and determines the most appropriate treatment strategy for each individual patient.


The World Health Organization (WHO) states that "low back pain" is the single leading cause of disability worldwide and the condition for which the greatest number of people may benefit from rehabilitation. Back pain is also typically recurrent (meaning if you've had it once you'll likely experience it again) and has increased by 81% since 2000. Doctors seem to spend less and less time with patients and this leads to more cookie cutter treatments being provided. Patients are not actually listened to and are often prescribed pain medication, steroids, and muscle relaxers without actually being educated on why their pain may be there in the first place. And even worse, patients are often sent in for surgery without ever receiving proper, individualized, conservative rehab services.
