Dr. Greg here, and we’ve got some super exciting news to share!

Over the past handful of months, I have achieved my career dream of becoming a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT)!!!

These are some of the highest clinical credentials that a PT can achieve, and I’m so grateful to have finally reached the finish line with these pursuits!

I have worked really hard ever since graduating from Daemen University to continue refining my skillset by pouring lots of time and resources into extra learning to best help people, and I truly do have a passion for being the best that I can possibly be at my profession for the glory of God!

I can confidently say that I did not achieve these accomplishments on my own, and I definitely received confirmation from God along the way that this was the direction He had been guiding me!

A special thank you to Mackenzie for being the most supportive and encouraging wife - she has never questioned my desire to pursue further education and has always supported my dreams to the fullest!

To all of the numerous family, friends, and clients who have prayed for me, supported me, and encouraged me - thank you so incredibly much!

To explain a little further what went into each of these speciality credentials…

Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS)

In order to become an OCS, the first step was to complete an application providing proof that I completed thousands of hours of patient care specifically with people who have orthopedic issues (injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, nerves, etc.). Once the application was approved, the next step was to begin studying for a 200 multiple choice question board exam that tested competence with orthopedic content including recently published research/protocols. After a 3.5 month wait for the results, I officially received word that I passed the exam and fulfilled all requirements to begin using the specialty credential. The OCS credential demonstrates my commitment to clinical excellence and remaining up to date with the recommendations that I provide my patients!

Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT)

In order to become a FAAOMPT, I first had to complete an accredited fellowship program in Sports and Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. The fellowship program was a 4-year journey that involved a mix of traveling around the country to take various specialty education courses, assisting with the teaching of a sports manual therapy certification courses in Florida, and completing 150+ hours of in-person mentoring with a faculty members in Texas, Florida, and NY. At the end of the fellowship, I had to complete a series of online exams and in-person practical exams where I had to demonstrate my competence with a variety of hands-on techniques. After graduation from the fellowship, I was able to submit an application to be approved as a FAAOMPT demonstrating my expertise and drive to be the best PT that I can possibly be for my patients!

After having the opportunity to learn from some of the best PTs around the country over the past few years, these specialty credentials will now hopefully open doors to further my role as an educator at the university, residency, and/or fellowship level!

Here’s to continued learning, continued teaching, and a continued commitment to providing the highest level of care that I can!
